Phase 1: Building a Wind Turbine with Limited Resources
Smart Material Choices
Each group receives a box filled with materials – pipes, joints, ropes, blades, rubber bands, bearings, and more. Every component has a defined CO₂ value and affects the team’s final balance only if used. External materials are off-limits. Within 60 minutes, teams must build a working wind turbine using only the provided parts – while minimizing environmental impact.
From Concept to Prototype
Teams analyze the materials, draft their designs, and build their prototype – with space for creative problem-solving and improvement. The goal: a functional, efficient turbine with a minimal carbon footprint.
Phase 2: The CO₂ Challenge – On the Tablet
Earn Points for Climate Action
The next challenge is digital: on a tablet, teams compete in a knowledge and creativity contest to earn CO₂ offset points. The game includes questions on renewable energy, sustainable technologies, and resource conservation – along with creative photo and video missions.
Wind Power Showdown
Each turbine is put to the test using a battery-powered leaf blower. The jury evaluates both functionality and carbon efficiency. The team with the most sustainable and effective design wins. Engineering skill and eco-awareness both matter.
